Forest Mortality, by Isaac Borrego, received the Plants, Algae, & Fungi award in the Biodiversity Research Center's photo competition. Congratulations Isaac!

The images shows the devastating effects of a spruce beetle infestation in the South Chilcotin Mountains. Understanding forest mortality and the role it plays in forest ecosystem health and terrestrial carbon storage is critical as these communities are expected to come under increased stress in a changing climate.
